Just as in the previous level, American Spirit utilizes the four core activities of Spelling You See: Daily Huddle – which starts each lesson off with a conversation about challenging words, chunking – which provides hands-on experience with English’s many irregular letter patterns, copywork – which requires the brain to pay attention to details in print, and dictation – which gives an opportunity for students to demonstrate decoding and encoding in a meaningful context.
The Spelling You See American Spirit Set includes an Instructor's Handbook and Student Workbooks and is ideal for instructors and students who are new to Spelling You See or are starting this level for the first time. This set includes everything you need to achieve success.

For the student who can spell many common words confidently but may not be ready for the more advanced content of the next level. Drawn from America's history and people, passages in this level increase gradually in reading difficulty. Resources include the Passages, an Answer Key, a Glossary, a Bibliography, and an Index of Topics. Please note that the Universal Set is no longer sold - please see #SYSERV for the equivalent set.
