Description
The SSS Level B courses are for students who have completed
SSS Level A or who are reading between a 6th and 8th grade level. Level B has 3
years of instruction options. Video instruction and assignments over the three
years begin with the basics, but, in general, comprise an intermediate level of
writing instruction, preparing a student well for high school writing
assignments. Focusing on the structure and style of writing, structure is
covered in nine units on note making, outlines, writing/summarizing from notes,
inventive writing, and essay and literary critique writing. The skill goal is
to produce interesting and appealing writing, and stylistic elements to
practice include dress-ups for sentences, sentence openers, decorations, and
avoiding overused words. Each year covers and reviews basic writing concepts and
expands into new areas. Poetry is introduced and covered in Years 1 and 3. Reference
and research citations are reviewed in Years 2 and 3. Instruction is
incremental and clear. Instructor Andrew Pudewa enjoys a good pun and engages with
students while presenting concepts with clarity. Courses are easy to use and
highly effective. Course components include a Teacher Manual, a Student Packet,
Binder, and Videos (choose from DVD or Live Streaming format). Sold
individually or in packages.
