Yummy Yummy Monster Tummy Game
It is fun to sneak upstairs at Grandpa’s house. At the top of a long flight of stairs, there is a large attic filled with mysterious relics of his and Grandma’s life such as books, games, and outdoor toys. Today, when my brother and I crept up there and opened the door, a group of hungry, friendly, colorful monsters greeted us, asking to be fed. The challenge was that they only wanted food that matched their colors, but the fun was that they offered a digital game to play while we fed them.
Armed with a deck of cards in a rainbow of colors, we powered up the game app on our mom’s phone and scanned two cards that together formed a color to match the first monster that came towards us. When we guessed right, another monster stepped forward to be fed. Advancing up the difficulty track was easy at first but then more monsters in hues of colors that were difficult to match came towards us. If we guessed correctly, we continued to advance in this game. If we did not, the monster would become sick, and we would have to start over. As we continued the game, new locations and items were unlocked, making it more challenging and fun.
Does this sound like a game your kids and friends ages 6+ might like to play? If so, get this game, load the app on your device (phone or tablet), deal out color cards and feed the monsters! The game only takes 20 minutes to play and includes a Story mode with 12 levels of challenges and a Party Mode which lets you play one game session with all the items you have unlocked without following the story.
Yummy Yummy Monster Tummy is a family-friendly, cooperative card game of color matching and monster feeding for 2-4 players. Your goal in each level is to feed all of the monsters with foods that they like according to the color of their fur.
Players start by placing their device (mobile or tablet) face-up in the middle of the table. Once players choose a level in the app they will be told how many item cards to deal to each player. Monsters will then start to appear on the screen, hungrily looking for their next meal.
In any order, players may choose to feed an item card to a monster by holding the card over the device to scan the QR code on the back of the card. When you feed a monster, you must feed it item cards that combine to make a color similar to the monster’s fur color. If you feed a monster items that make a color that doesn’t match, all players will lose the game!
Any items from toilet plungers to underwear or lost socks to Grandpa’s dentures (oh my!) can be fed to the hungry creatures! The app will let you know if you have fed the monster a good mix of items that make it happy. is
