Such a time saver
I love this kit. I thought it seemed a little spendy, but ordered it because with 3 kids in different grades, I was always missing something for science. The fact that everything is labelled in a bag by chapter is brilliant. I would highly recommend this. Your kids will get their labs done without having to tear the house apart looking for some random object or a trip to the store and you will keep your sanity! It's money well spent...

Great, short experiments throughout the text help kids to see the concepts; this kit has everything you need that you might not have on hand.

Great kit!
Great kit. Items are separated by lesson and clearly marked. Very convenient to jump into the experiment as we go through the lesson. I printed out the supply list so I knew what I needed to have from home.

Fun Science!
My 6th grade grandson loves this science program! He talks of nothing less. The lab kit was a lifesaver! Everything he needs is in there. He is learning important concepts and finding the thread of God and creation beautifully interwoven.

great kit
Has everything I need. I got the complete kit for Astronomy and was able to do all of the experiments. Then for botany I tried to cheap out and get a smaller kit. Well, the result was that we didn't do all of the experiments because we didn't have everything on hand. Going back to the full kit is expensive, but worth it!

Apologia Elementary Chemistry and Physics Lab kit
So far I've only completed Lesson 1, but it seems very convenient and organized. The graduated cylinder from Lesson 1 is a bit smaller and narrower than I expected, however the goggles from the kit appear sturdy.

Superb compliment!
This chemistry kit is a fantastic compliment to the Apologia Chemistry and Physics textbook. This is the second lab kit we have used, and after using the first one last year, we had to get another. It's a HUGE time-saver for mom, AND it's bagged according to the lessons. Worth every penny!

This lab kit is pretty much all inclusive which makes it wonderful. With the purchase of clear plastic cups at local store, your all set! My kids are loving it!

Why did you choose this?
Are there allergens in this kit like peanut m & m’s? Those are in the same kit from a different supplier. If there are peanuts in this kit are they individually wrapped to not contaminate other items?
Check on the lab supplies list in the book and see if they're listed, or go to Nature's Workshop and call them and ask. They're helpful, and are the ones that pack each kit, so they would know for sure. It has been a couple years since we did it, and I don't remember either (especially not peanuts).
Is this for the 3rd edition of the Apologia Chemistry and Physics?
This kit is for the Elementary Chemistry and Physics from Apologia. This elementary course from Apologia is only in its first edition. It sounds like you may be thinking of the high school level Chemistry course which is in a 3rd edition. This kit will not work with the high school course.
Would this kit have any problems being shipped to Australia?
We are able to ship this kit to Australia. We aren't responsible for items that Australian customs wil not accept or let enter the country.
What is not included in the kit that I would need? Where can I have a comprehensive list of what's exactly in the kit?
Kits always include everything you need except perishable food items, plants, and water.I am not sure where you would find a comprehensive list (without me linking to another company after I google to track it down), but we have used many Apologia kits.The only things we have literally had to purchase it provide on our own were food items, plants for Botany, and liquids like soda and water.The full kits include all else down to paper plates, foil, baking soda as examples. They even come with crayons and pencils.I like the kits as they increases our success of actually completing experiments because I never have to track down anything other than what I mentioned which are easily found in the pantry, fridge, or next grocery store trip. I hope this helps!
What specific items will you still need to get?
It has been a while since we used it but I don't recall needing anything special at all. Maybe something laying around the house. Honestly, as far as I recall it had everything. It was wonderful. No fuss no muss.
Does the kit come with a lesson book and instructions on how to do the experiments?
No, you must order the textbook separately which contains the instructions for the lab experiments
We are Americans posted overseas. Is there anything in this kit that would keep it from being shipped to us? For example, do the liquids combine to being over 16 ounces total? Are the batteries lithium batteries?
Per the supplier: The batteries are not lithium, however, the fluids in the kit are over 16 oz. Some of them could be taken out of the kit before it is shipped if they are things the recipient could replace.
Is this kit the materials needed for the experiment at the back of the lesson or also for the Try This experiments throughout each lesson?
The materials included are for all the experiments in the book including the Try This experiments. There are lots of items included available in your home but you don't have to spend any time collecting them ahead of time. I found this kit extremely helpful.
Is this kit worth it to get for a 1st grader? I gave her all the options for science to study next year and she really wanted to do chemistry. I am wondering if it would be better suited for when she is older.
It depends on what your goal is for science at this age. I think the reading will be beyond her comprehension, but the experiments are very exciting. My 5 year old wandered off while my older kids listened to the lesson with me but she always made sure she was in the thick of it for the experiments and hands-on activities.
Do I need more than 1 kit for 2 children? Is it worth the cost for this kit?
You do not need to order more than 1 kit. My two worked on everything together. They took turns pouring and mixing etc. There were a few things that they each did their own, but it was with materials I had on hand. The cost was worth every penny to me. Too many times my intentions have been to do specific experiments but I fell short on getting the appropriate materials. It was awesome the way the company has everything separated into lessons. Grab a lesson bag and go. The things that were not included were very easy for me to get.
I like to get these to go along with the curriculum
to make my life easier when its time to do science experiments.
