We didn't use the teacher's guide. We really used this book as more of a math practice workbook (rather than a curriculum with lessons taught by mom). I would just sit down with my son and go over the page for the day to make sure he understood it all and then let him do it. I would pull out manipulatives as I saw fit or explain concepts as needed, but I didn't use the teacher's guide or teach any math lessons. Plus, the math at this level is still simple enough that you can figure it in your head and don't need an answer key.
We love Horizons! We continue to used what has worked after switching from multiple curriculums to find the right one!
I have used Horizons Math for all of my 5 kids in their early years. It's easy to teach, the lessons aren't too long, and it seems to help my kids succeed in math. My youngest son is begging me to…
My second grader did great with grade 1 Horizons math.
I want to try something more challenging for my son and this curriculum looks promising.
