English 5 Student Worktext, Second Edition

These materials offer complete coverage of both writing and grammar.

For Grades 2 through 12, Bob Jones offers an English (Writing & Grammar) program to train students in communicating Biblically and effectively. Both oral and written skills are developed, with increasing emphasis on composition at the upper levels. Everything that you would expect in a writing and grammar program is here from mechanics, to word types, grammar (including parts of speech and diagramming), and all types of writing (including journaling, analysis, and various composition tasks). Courses integrate Christian references and will help students apply a Biblical worldview in communication by recalling, explaining, evaluating, formulating, and applying Biblical themes. Teacher’s Editions contain daily lesson plans, additional and differentiated educational suggestions, and answers to the student worktext exercises in wrap-around format. Student worktexts are consumable, and at each grade level, different themes and tasks are introduced in a progressively challenging way. Assessments provide consumable, ready-to-use tests for each chapter; answers are found in the Assessment Key. Home School Kits contain 2-part Teacher's Editions, consumable worktexts, consumable assessments, and an assessments answer key. Additional/supplemental materials are no longer found on Teacher CD-ROMs. Instead, these materials are now either included in the TE or are not necessary for home use. This edition is much expanded and more colorful. Aimed at "fostering an appreciation of language as a gift from God," this course now teaches more English skills than before. The things covered include sentences, compare-contrast essays, nouns, persuasive business letters, verbs, diamantes and sense poems, study and reference skills, personal narratives, pronouns, book reviews, more verbs, research reports, adjectives and adverbs, writing imaginative instructions, more detail about sentences, and writing a play. This Grade 5 Teacher Edition also contains a Teacher's Toolkit CD-ROM, which has reproducible pages to supplement the lessons, and extra practice pages, Keeping Up activities and writing rubrics. The Home School kit contains all four of the items listed below.
