Guerber’s The Story of the Thirteen Colonies and the Great Republic a perfect one-year survey of American history for the middle school years. We have looked, and we cannot find an American history study on a grammar school level that we think rivals H. A. Guerber’s American history works from the turn of the 20th century. We have edited the text to be more concise and to allow for the fact that many events considered pivotal to history in the late 1800s have paled in significance with the passing of time and events such as two World Wars. This text, in conjunction with the student and teacher guides and American History Outline books, provides the perfect overview of our American history.
A companion guide to the Story of the Thirteen Colonies & Great Republic course for those students who need additional practice to aid in their understanding and comprehension of American History. Lessons from World War I on will reference material taken from the Story of the World Vol. 4 Text to round out your American History studies. Answers to the Student Guide are provided in the Teacher Key.
