Category Description for Jolly Phonics Grammar

Boring grammar? Uninspired spelling? It doesnt have to be! Jolly Phonics Grammar picks up where the colorful and entertaining Jolly Phonics leaves off (with knowledge of 42 basic sounds, tricky words, and a 1st grade reading level). Clever graphics, multi-sensory teaching methods and teaching icons such as Inky, Snake, and Bee guide students through a comprehensive and impressive array of grammar and spelling skills including alphabetizing, proofreading, and parsing. Weekly spelling lists are based on phonics review and lead to word-building and vocabulary expansion. Thorough grammar, usage, and mechanics coverage leads into sentence construction skills and literary devices. All materials are user-friendly and provide straight-forward instruction. Although this program originates in the UK, all materials are edited for American usage and feature print letters.

Jolly Phonics Grammar offers two ways to use. A stand-alone option, the Grammar Handbook is an all-in-one black and white resource providing step-by-step instructions, teacher lesson plans and student reproducible worksheets. The other option is the full color Student and Teacher Books. The actual instruction and worksheets are identical between the two options. The only difference is color. Handbooks are 200 235 pgs, spiral-bound. Teacher Books are 105 pgs, pb. Student Books are 80 pgs, pb. ~ Janice

The Grammar Handbooks provide general teaching ideas for grammar and spelling as well as specific lesson sheets for 36 weekly spelling and grammar lessons. Lessons instruct through the reproducible worksheets. Extra reproducible masters include spelling and writing masters, flash cards, spelling and tricky word sheets, and extension activity sheets. Includes a complete answer key.

Teacher Books provide general grammar and spelling teaching ideas as well as daily lessons that interact with the Student Book. Reduced copies of student pages and answer keys for all student pages are included. Spelling lessons include review, instruction, spelling list work, activities, and dictation. Grammar lessons include review, instruction, activity pages and extension activities. Student Books provide weekly spelling and grammar worksheets featuring a variety of activities, all with colorful, engaging graphics. Unbelievably, each fish somehow illustrates, by its expression, the word with the suffix it is illustrating: hopeful, comfortable, cheerful, even recycle. Both Teacher and Student Books are richly colorful. Jolly Grammar Sets include a Teacher and Student book for each level. ~ Janice
