Spelling You See Level E: American Spirit Student Pack (old edition)
Includes 2 Student workbooks (Part 1 and Part 2) and colored pencils. Level E is for the student who can spell many common words confidently but may not be ready for the more advanced content of the next level. Drawn from America's history and people, passages in this level increase gradually in reading difficulty. Resources include the Passages, an Answer Key, a Glossary, a Bibliography, and an Index of Topics.
The American Spirit Student Pack includes two student workbooks and a pack of erasable colored pencils. Each of the 36 lessons is divided into five parts, A through E, and includes two facing pages. Each day the instructor reads the passage together with the student, as it is important for students to hear the words while looking at them. Students will also "chunk" the appropriate letter patterns indicated for that day's lesson and have opportunities for copywork and writing from dictation throughout the week.
American Spirit continues to guide students through the skill development stage of spelling. Students will read about various people and events from American history, with a gradually increasing reading level. At the same time, the emphasis on the mastery of everyday words continues, building a strong foundation for the next stage of spelling. Just as in the previous level, American Spirit utilizes the core activities of Spelling You See: chunking, providing hands-on experience with English's many irregular letter patterns; copywork, requiring the brain to pay attention to details in print; and dictation, giving an opportunity for student to demonstrate decoding and encoding in a meaningful context.

I chose this program because it employs a routine weekly method.
We've already used Level D for spelling and it was something we want to continue to use in our homeschool for spelling.
Next level in the series. All four of my boys have really benefited from SpellingYouSee.
