Description

SiSi Box Set: Full printed Spanish Curriculum for two years, 150+ page hole punched manual, physical flashcards, custom whiteboard paddle, marker, card pages, box, etc.

A full 2-year Spanish course in a box! I love a tidy presentation. If you are looking for a family-oriented Spanish, something for your auditory or visual learner, or perhaps you have a child who struggles with writing – this could be the Spanish you have been looking for.

In the box you will find 3 color-coded decks of picture/vocabulary cards, a flash drive with MP3 audio files (changing to a QR code), a dry erase paddle with marker, and a looseleaf teacher manual ready to put in a binder (not included), along with 2 card sleeves to save sentences in your binder.

Students listen to the same lesson 3x per week before moving on. The first lesson is only 8 minutes long. In fact, the longest lesson is only 15 minutes. Any learner can work this program into their busy schedule.

Lesson instruction is in the manual, so it's as simple as opening to the lesson, laying out your cards, and playing the audio. Parents are not expected to know any Spanish to teach this course. Students start with simple vocabulary (see the video) but will progress to articles, ser/estar/ir/tener, regular ar verbs, possessive adjectives, noun/adjective agreement, #0-50, commands, questions, parts of speech, syntax, prepositions and singular/plural words.

Vocabulary includes words of high interest to children such as household nouns, colors, opinions, animals, clothing, food, family, manners, rooms, & places in town. The variety of activities in the lessons give your students a chance to act out words, play with the cards, and write on the paddle, making it a good option for various learning styles. ~ Sara

Publisher's Description of See It and Say It Flip Flop Spanish: Whole Family Level 1, 3rd Edition

The See It and Say It Flip Flop Spanish Level 1 bundle is a two-year+ homeschool curriculum designed around the Charlotte Mason Methodology for homeschoolers of all types, using a comprehensive, experiential approach to help your child--and you!--master the Spanish language. The updated See it and Say it Level 1, 3rd edition includes the optional "bridge" lessons that were once sold separately! Fifteen more weeks of lessons, with audio, are all included.

Created specifically for audial, visual, and tactile learning styles, See It and Say It Flip Flop Spanish has all the tools you need to engage every type of student.

 Fun for the Entire Family

Designed for enjoyment by all ages!

This interactive learning system mimics the process toddlers use in acquiring their first language, empowering the whole family to learn together.

Use the picture cards to start speaking simple concepts and building full sentences immediately!

Complete with games, charades, and skits, each lesson creates unforgettable experiences that engage young and older learners alike...and make a lasting impression.

Effortless Preparation

Your prep is easy: find the cards, lay them out, and push play on the audio MP3 track. That’s it!

Each week (one lesson) includes three sessions, approximately 15 minutes per lesson.

Easy Implementation

After you’ve laid out the numbered cards as instructed on the Lesson Page, audio instructions lead you and your family through each lesson. You can follow along in the manual, as desired.

On day one, the audio may feel a tad fast. So, on the third listen, it's JUST right--and never tedious or boring!

We encourage you to read the lesson content to students at the end of the week, rather than listening to the MP3. This makes the language truly relational and encourages maximum absorption (and enjoyment!)

Supplemental Materials / Ideas

Includes built-in "break weeks,” when you can read Spanish books from the library, watch favorite movies in Spanish, and take cultural Spanish outings to try out your new language tools and receive more authentic input. Your student is encouraged (with full instructions!) to make his/her own flashcards as well, giving the opportunity to truly OWN the language.

What to Expect After Year Two

By the end of the two-year curriculum, you’ll be conversing, answering and asking questions among your family members. But that’s not all. You'll be able to influence the world around you with confidence. You’ll be putting together thousands of original sentences, made up of hundreds of chunky bits of info as you learned them one by one on your photo Flip Flop Spanish flashcards.

Can this work for High Schoolers?

You have your whole family, and that includes high schoolers, right? See it and Say it is a wonderful beginning for all ages, even seniors in High School (and adults!). If you are  looking for High School Credit, SiSi Level 1 covers a little more than half of the grammar topics required in High School Level 1, and SiSi Level 2 finishes them up. SiSi does not take the place of most of the state requirements of learning a foreign language, but creates the ability for a student to move forward with success, because they're able to think in Spanish, not just read and translate.

Category Description for Flip Flop Spanish

Si Si Flip Flip Flop Spanish takes a different approach to language instruction than most traditional courses. Spanish is taught in the natural way children acquire language – learning new words and getting a response. Students learn chunks of language they can use right away. Parents are guided with lessons on digital audio files (QR code) and a printed teacher manual (looseleaf). The main teaching tools are the cards with color photos and words. You can expect to do lessons 3x a week using the short audio tracks. Lessons vary from 8-15 minutes and may have games, charades and skits, with optional writing.

Level 1 includes materials for 2 years of instruction (80 lessons) with 3 decks of cards, dry-erase paddle with marker, and 2 sheets of card sleeves. Students start with simple vocabulary (see the video) but will progress to articles, ser/estar/ir/tener, regular ar verbs, possessive adjectives, noun/adjective agreement, #0-50, commands, questions, parts of speech, syntax, prepositions and singular/plural words. Level 2 is for 1 year of instruction using 3 decks of cards, a gameboard, spinner, and 2 sheets of card sleeves. Additional grammar (past tense) and writing for older students can be done while younger students focus on speaking and listening skills.

Good for the whole family
Fairly straightforward to set up, the audio can be fast (even on non speed rounds) but it's easy enough to pause or back it up a bit. All of us (3, 7 and two adults) find it fun and engaging.

Highly Recommend
This is such a fun way to learn Spanish! The lessons are short and simple. It starts with Senora Gose walking you through a simple ~5 minute prep (find the flash cards for the lesson and listen to concise, clear instructions). Visual and auditory learners will LOVE this! Senora Gose speaks the pronunciation - the kids felt confident to speak immediately. And though speaking is the focus, her recommendations on how to add writing for older students are excellent as well.

We have zero experience in Spanish. When we finished our first lesson, my daughter and I can speak Spanish! The program is based on Charlotte Mason. We love it. There is a video from rainbow resource YouTube channel showed you how this program works. Highly recommended!

Fun, practical, effective, creative, hands-on, all-around wonderful program for all ages!
Señora Gose is a genius! My kids and I have bounced around among a lot of curriculum options. DuoLingo, Speedy Spanish, Getting Started With Spanish, Classical Academic Press Spanish, Cherrydale Press Spanish (good, but my kids don't use many of the phrases in real life. Will come back to it eventually), Sonrisas Spanish is too pricey, other curriculum requires a higher level of fluency than I have to be able to implement it, and my own cobbled-together attempts took too much of my time (and money for resources) to prepare. As soon as I saw a demo of Flip-flop Spanish, my reaction was something along the lines of "Shut up and take my money!" I wish I had found it 5 years ago instead of wasting time and money trying to find a good program or make one myself! Flip-flop Spanish was made for absolute beginners and is easy and fun for big families to use and tired, busy moms to make happen! My kids, from 12 down to 2, enjoy the lessons and are excited to do Spanish every day! :) Aside from just being really clever and practical, from the child's perspective, it's not only fun but also a big confidence booster. Speaking multiple grammatically correct sentence from lesson one? Who doesn't want to have that feeling of success when starting something hard like learning a foreign language? In lesson one you learn "I like..." and "I need", and can mix and match those with "the bowl", "the skirt", "the dog", and "the ice cream". If you know absolutely NO Spanish whatsoever and use JUST those words in lesson one, that makes 8 sentences. My kids have a few Spanish words under their belts from our other attempts, so even just adding "y" and "por", they can expand those 8 sentences to at least double that amount. They can say "I need the bowl for the ice cream", "I need the bowl and the ice cream", "I like the skirt and the dog", and so on. That's just from lesson one! This program is absolutely wonderful and I am so happy to have found Flip-flop Spanish! Gracias, Señora Gose! :)

Great for struggling learner!
My son is loving supplementing our high school Spanish with this. He’s learning more from this program than anything we’ve tried. He is a struggling learner, but he truly loves getting Spanish done every day!

We like it!
We are only on lesson four but so far my children and I are having a lot of fun using this course. We are learning a lot too! Age ranges learning are 40 (me!) 18,14, 8 and 6! The only complaint I have is that there is not very much explanation for the usage of punctuation, yet the “teacher” suggests the older students use it in writing their Spanish sentences. Other than that we are having a great time learning so far! This is so much easier to learn with than other programs we have used and more fun as well!

Love it!
I'm using it now for ages 9 & 5. We are enjoying it, but as the teacher with NO Spanish background, I am LOVING it. I am taking it at a much slower pace than recommended and we've labeled items around our home to encourage us all to use Spanish outside of class. The flashcards are great quality and I would definitely recommend this to anyone. The price only seems steep, but when you break it up over 2 years and 2 (or more) students it is very worth it. We've tried and failed at apps, other workbooks, and other approaches, but this one works!! I think it works because it is mainly VERBAL so you don't have your 5 year old needing to do workbook pages, which I find very age inappropriate.

7 Questions
Why did you choose this?

I wanted something low-tech for our family that we could practice daily in a short amount of time. My children are young, and so I am working to build their vocabulary for high-school level Spanish.

I have been wanting to buy this for years, I can't wait to get started!

I chose this program because it taught sentences, not just individual words. I am over 70 years old bringing up grandchildren and still remember the sentences I learned in Spanish over 60 years ago,…

Tried several other Spanish programs, and none have been very helpful. This has good reviews, and seems simple to use.

I have another question…how many pages go into a binder. If I get the ebook bundle it is $45 less however I was just curious how much I would need print.?

There are 77 pages that go into the binder. Keep in mind most of these pages have print on both sides of the paper and they are 3-hole punched. The paper and print quality from the company is nice.

How many pages are in the shrink wrapped package? I’m considering just getting the SiSi ebook and audio files + flashcard bundle with which I would have to print up teacher guide, This is purchased from the FFS website. It is $90 vs. $132. Big savings on a tight budget! I would be the flash cards mailed to be but not the other part that is put in the binder. Any idea on how ,any pages?

If I had to take a good shot at it, about 100 pp.

Can the audio files work if I have an iPad and nowhere to use a flash drive?

I don’t think so. We plugged the flash drive into our laptop and downloaded the files from there.

In the video it says you do 3 lessons then move on to new content. Is the program set up to spiral in old learning with new vocabulary as you progress?

Yes, you use old vocabulary with new to create new sentences.

Is this appropriate for use with high school?

If you go to her website (flipflopspanish) she says it’s for the whole family, all ages. Although, she has another course called Spanish Geniuses that is for targeted for higher levels. However, in a videos segment I saw with her talking on this subject she mentions starting with this program as the bases for all grades and levels but then continue with Spanish Geniuses for the high school students after this program is done. This course does have extra work for older students in each lesson. This is what I am doing with my high school student as my younger learn too. Then we will move to the other course.

What age children did you use this with? How have you liked it?

I'm using it now for ages 9 & 5. We are enjoying it, but as the teacher with NO Spanish background, I am LOVING it. I am taking it at a much slower pace than recommended and we've labeled items around our home to encourage us all to use Spanish outside of class.
