Could this be used independently?
Yes. But it would be best for high school or above. Also, a DSLR camera is referenced and having one might enhance the experience.
Would this be considered a 1/2 credit of a full year credit for high school?
This course took my daughter 2 semesters and it was worth 1/2 credit!

We would like to learn photography as a family. I saw some other interesting courses however this one was in a decent price range for a half credit course.
My son just got a Canon camera for a gift and needs to learn how to use it. This book seems good for a beginner.
I liked that it was already divided up into weeks. Also it had some composition chapters and assignments, rather than being all technical like the Beginner Photographers book.
