Very Sad 8 Year Old
"Metal " pieces broke within two weeks after being handled appropriately and not overly used. My 8 year old was so distraught after spending his hard saved money for a toy that fell apart so easily. Wood was extremely light weight wood that I would think would splinter very easily if played with frequently as a toy.

Cap mechanism poorly made
Overall, my son is enjoying the rifle. However, the mechanism that shoots the cap stopped working properly after only a couple of days- that was disappointing.

Who used this in history?

To my understanding, it is a reasonable, fairly generic rendition of the weapon used all the way from the Revolutionary war, throughout the Napoleonic Era, through the American Civil War and even into the prairies of the American West, where it was eventually replaced by repeater rifles.
