Family Romanov
In the time of the early 1900s, the peasants outside of the palace gate live in absolute poverty. With men, women, and children all working to try to maintain life, their conjoined effort was hardly enough to feed them, let alone house them. Working the entire day away, 6 days a week, in these filth-filled villages became a constant challenge to survive. There was no real “living."
Meanwhile, inside the palace gates, Nicholas, Alexandra, and the rest of the royal family lived and prospered very well. They had little concern for the less fortunate of Moscow. With three daughters and one son, Alexandra put much effort into protecting the boy. He would be the only heir from their family, but his uncurable illness made his future look obscure at times. In addition, when World War I begins to take a heavy toll on Russia, the Empire's fate is dealt yet another unfortunate blow.
This book gives much detail and history of the royal family, while also including excerpts of how life was outside the palace gates. Also included are real pictures of the family and times, as well as first-hand experiences. A very intriguing and captivating read. 292 pgs, hc.
