Sharpen pencils and crayons in this sturdy cylindrical sharpener. Two holes let you choose between a short and sharp point or a long and sharp point. Shavings are contained and you can see through the side to know when it is full. Big enough to hang on to as you sharpen, but not too chunky for little hands to use. Made of black plastic with metal blades and clear plastic on one side. Measures approx. 2.75" high by 1.5" across. ~ Sara
Publisher's Description of Prismacolor Premier Sharpener
The Prismacolor Premier Sharpener features two different steel blades: one for a fine point, the other for a medium point. This sharpener is ideal for sharpening Prismacolor Pencils and Colored Pencils to a sharp point. The sharpener cover keeps shavings contained, and its translucent casing lets you see when it needs to be emptied.
Sharpens Prismacolor Premier Pencils and Colored Pencils to a sharp point
Versatile sharpener can create wide or narrow points
Sharpens great, but plastic design needs improvement
The metal sharpener inside does a great job, and I love the two different length options for sharpening a standard width pencil. The plastic design however does not live up to the brand name. First the plastic cap ripped off at the hinge, the the plastic cover came off (that shows which hole is which). Also, I don't understand the purpose of the outer plastic attachment. It exposes holes when removed that leak shavings, and can be difficult to reattach.

BEST sharpener of colored pencils!
These sharpeners always work and being able to sharpen to a wide point makes the pencils last much longer, which is a good thing since we like to use prismacolors and they're quite spendy. If only someone would make something like this for the Lyra Super Ferby and Giant colored pencils. Then I'd be set!

How to empty shavings?
I dont think you have to, but you might need to pull the black plastic off to uncover where to flip the top up. It took 2 of us to figure it out. I can't imagine the top will stay attached for long. It's kind if flimsy.
