Memoir of Tillie Pierce: Eyewitness to Battle of Gettysburg (First Person Histories)
The diary of Tillie Pierce contains an interesting yet tragic personal interpretation of the devastation of the Battle of Gettysburg during the Civil War. Filled with first person story, pictures, and drawings, this book tells of the troops of General John Buford's and General Robert E. Lee's who fought a three-day bloody battle ~Judy.
Learn about significant events and times in US history through firsthand accounts told through diary entries of children who lived during the era. This collection would be a marvelous supplemental add on to an early American history curriculum. Because these books regularly feature the actual words or diary entries of period writers, there are occasional interesting misspellings, most with pronunciations included that help to paint the flavor of the era and create a feeling of genuineness to the author. Photos, vocabulary words, a glossary, timelines, and questions for critical thinking are options included in these interesting books. The pictures are colorful and representative of the era. ~Judy
Purchased this from Rainbow Resources at the NCHE Homeschool Conference in Winston Salem, NC. My kids loved it so much I wanted to get one for my niece and nephews to share.
