A true workhorse, this toothier textured, heavier weight 113 lb (185 gsm) paper is truly versatile and can handle all dry mediums (graphite & colored pencils, pastels, crayons) to wet mediums (pen & inks, markers, watercolors, acrylics, collage work). You get a good blend of value and quality performance. The rougher surface offers a great surface for watercolors and oil, or chalk pastels that really holds the pigment. Each spiral bound pad features perforated pages for easy tear out and a heavy-duty chipboard backing for extra structure. 50 sheets per pad. ~ Emily
Publisher's Description of Canson XL Mix Media Rough Art Pad (7" x 10") 50 Sheets
Designed to appeal to students, these mixed media pads combine performance with value. They feature 98 lb. micro-perforated, heavy-weight sheets with heavy sizing for watercolor, acrylics and dry media. The sheet surface provides for superior blending. The rough version features 114 lb. heavy-weight paper with a coarse surface texture that accepts wet media and dry pigments. Each pad contains 60 sheets and rough pads 50, unless noted otherwise.
Some might call it the workhorse of paper, for there is almost nothing these pads of white can't handle. Pen and pencil: you got it. Oil pastels or crayons: easy stuff. Watercolor colored pencils and ink: no problem. Glue and collage work; make me laugh. Markers and acrylic paint: piece of cake. The fine textured 98 lb (160 gsm) paper is truly versatile, and my "go to" for all art media sketching and practice work. You get a good blend of value and quality performance. Now, if you plan to apply a lot of water and washes, the paper will buckle a bit. I would suggest going to the toothier textured, heavier weight 113 lb (185 gsm) paper you'll find in the Rough pads. These offer a great surface for watercolors and pastels that really holds the pigment. Each spiral bound pad features perforated pages for easy tear out and a heavy-duty chipboard backing for extra structure. 60 sheets per pad. The Rough version has 50 sheets per pad. ~ Emily
