Jesus and His Followers
This semester long student text introduces students to the Bible text before jumping into the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, as well as Jesus' followers. Students will gain a working knowledge of what the Bible is, a brief but detailed history of the Biblical text, the difference in Bible translations (this study will utilize the KJV exclusively). Moving from the logistics of Biblical knowledge, the meat of the text is on the Gospel stories of Jesus. Each story is outlined according to how each gospel writer approached the Jesus encounter. Since each gospel writer presents different perspectives regarding Jesus: Messiah, Servant, Man, God, the encounter is going to highlight Christ in that specific view. Filled with vocab, maps, images, and contextual history students are provided a thorough understanding of who Christ was and what it means to be a follower of King Jesus. There is an index located in the back and some sections have discussion questions. 185 pgs, pb. ~Rebecca

Let's talk Bible and application! Throughout the Abeka Bible program for high school, students are learning about scripture and biblical times and also how to apply such an ancient text to their lives today. Each course has a non-consumable Student Textbook that students will read through. In Abeka's classic spiral approach, Grades 9 & 10 lays a biblical foundation with a year-long look at the Kings of Israel and the Old Testament, and then a year-long look at Bible Doctrines and emulating a disciple of Christ-like lifestyle. Grades 11 & 12 offer a number of semester courses: Life Management, Jesus and His Followers, Genesis: First Things, and Book of the Revelation. The lessons each take approximately 30 minutes and are designed to be done 4-days a week. The Teacher Edition book is a full text and will outline the curriculums schedule for the year. These plans incorporate suggested hymns to sing, memory verses to study, and clarify which lessons you are teaching. While not scripted, the instruction is very thorough and will be an added benefit to structure your time while studying the Bible.
Each course has a midterm and final exam, plus additional quizzes. All this material is located in the Student Quiz and Test Book. The test booklet provides your tests, review worksheets, test schedules, and grading rubric. The Quiz and Test Key provides all the answers to the unit's quizzes, test, and exams. ~Rebecca
The Grade 11 Abeka Bible program is focused on what it means to follow Christ. Each semester course is scripture based. One semester highlights Jesus and those who followed Him throughout the Gospel stories (Jesus and His Followers) (185 pgs., pb), the other semester is practical theology (Life Managements under God) (158 pgs., pb). Designed as a 4-day/week course, and featuring a spiral learning approach, lessons follow a structure of: prayer; verse memorization, teach, and review (scripture is in the KJV). Students will learn about who Jesus and the disciples were and then how to apply this Christ-like lifestyle in their own lives.
Each course comes with Teacher Editions of the text in full, with helpful teaching guidance's, scope and sequences, study questions and answers, tips for quizzes, and daily plans (these daily plans are outlines, not scripted lessons). The full-color, non-consumable Student Text also has a corresponding Student Quizzes/Test booklet, and Teacher Quiz/Test Key booklet available. For music correlating with this course, you can utilize the Sing His Praises Hymns and Choruses hymnal and also visit the Abeka website to purchase audio CD's for each course. ~Rebecca
