During these grades, kids often focus on being able to read; this series helps them gain tools to understand what they're reading. Each book provides 120 supplemental activities to build and maintain reading skills (i.e., think summer reading), with each activity highlighting a specific skill. This book is designed to be done with an adult's help: reading the passage, following instructions, and completing the activity. You as teacher will help decode words, encourage rereading, model how to interact with reading, and ask follow-up questions. For all three levels, students learn to narrate; describe key characters, events, and ideas; answer detail questions; clarify meaning and main point; and more.
