The first
book in the Scroll Saga series introduces middle school readers to young Caleb
and Lily, two adventurist teenagers who encounter the mysteries of the forest
outside their village. Dragons roam these woods, and they seek to destroy and
conquer. As Caleb processes and grieves all that he has lost his grief draws
him closer to the Great King—where he begins to find comfort. Even though Caleb
may not understand all that has happened, everything is all part of the Great
King’s ultimate plan. The storyline is a quick paced, action-packed narrative
that will engage both enthusiastic and reluctant readers. Chapters are short
and would make great read aloud material. Parental discretion is advised,
however, as the story begins with a great deal of death and destruction. 202

Publisher's Description of Castle and the Scroll - Book 1 (Scroll Saga)
Dragons multiply within the shadows of the forest. Only the Castle and
the Scroll stand against them. But when Caleb decides to join the forces
of the Great King, he discovers that the schemes of the enemy run far
deeper than anyone could have imagined. Faced with the hard realities of
the Scroll, Caleb is faced with a difficult choice. The path he chooses
will take him into a realm of the Kingdom that he never expected to
find.
This new
allegorical, Christian fiction series is written for middle school to young
adult readers. The Scroll Saga series dives into the enduring storyline of good
vs. evil—the people who follow the way of the Great King against the
destructive, taker of life, dragons. Acclaimed to be Pilgrims Progress for
today’s reader.
The first
two books, The Castle and the Scroll, The Dragon and the King, follow the life and decisions of a young man named
Caleb as he struggles with the loss of so much in his young life and grapples
with the goodness of the Great King. As Caleb grows and matures, not only
physically but spiritually, he must endure warfare as he uncovers truths for
life and plots of destruction. Book three, Maiden and the Serpent, and book four, Warrior and the Code, follow the lives of two young people, still connected to
our heroic Caleb, who are determined to become strong and courageous. Each
story showcases a desire to know the Great King better and the battle that we
join when we say “yes” to following Him. ~Rebecca
