Framework Game
- Small parts. Not for children under 3 years.
Build a framework of tiles and complete tasks in this thematic abstract game that is masterful in its simplicity but also clever with its strategic choices. Create a pattern of frame colors that best work together with goal tiles in order to complete a task or lay the groundwork to fulfill upcoming goals.
What is pictured on the tiles?
- Beautiful frames in five different colors that look like they are embroidery. There may be 1-3 different frame colors on any frame tile.
- Tasks may be on a tile with or without a frame. There may be up to three different tasks in one frame.
What are the tasks?
- Tasks indicate which color(s) and how many of each color tile are needed in tiles that are both adjacent to the task tile and adjacent to each other.
- Some tasks consist of a one-color frame goal while others may be different numbers of the same or different frame colors. Some goals are mixed and can consist of frames with of both of two colors or either/or of two-color choices. Finally, some require one goal to be completed with a second goal completed only after that goal is met.
Gameplay:
Important: Players should have plenty of room in their area to expand their framework tableau!
Place all 120 tiles in the provided bag and choose the first player to start. The first player draws tiles equal to the player count plus one and places them in a draw area. The first player chooses a tile and starts by placing one down to begin their framework tableau. In clockwise order, each player chooses a tile until there is one tile remaining which is added to the first person’s display. The game bag is passed to the next player who starts another round by drawing tiles to the display area.
As each player places a new tile, they check to see if any of their goal tiles are fulfilled and if so, place one of their player tokens on that goal. Play continues until either one player has used all their tokens or the tiles in the bag run out. Create a pattern of frame colors that best work together with goal tiles in order to complete a task or lay the groundwork to fulfill upcoming goals. The player with the fewest remaining tokens wins!
This is a lovely thematic game for 1-4 people with a quick playtime of 30 minutes. It is easily learned in a few minutes. I highly recommend this beautiful game for family game night or just for fun with friends! ~Marsha
