I read all of the Vikings and Ancient Egypt books in this series! These books are a step up from leveled readers, yet not as dense as chapter books. Cute and simple illustrations on every page add to the text. I didn't love the black line maps because it was hard to tell what was land and what was water, but you could bring out an atlas or wall map and have a better look. The non-fiction content was not too hard, yet introduces lots of new vocabulary. Readers will glean a lot of good historical information.
