Description

Elementary Mathematics Book 3 continues to be parent-child interactive with oral and written lessons, although there is now more balance between the written work and oral work. Lessons remain short and concentrated, just 20 minutes per day, with 5 of those set aside for review through engaging mental math activities. The first three weeks of the course are spent reviewing Book 2 concepts. Topics covered in this course include addition and subtraction to 10,000; mastery of multiplication tables (up to 10x10); double-digit multiplication; multiplication and division with money; long division; fractions; and weights and measures. Three exams, one for the end of each term, are included. Recommended supplies include a grid notebook (¾”, ½”, or ¼”, depending on the child’s handwriting abilities), a chalk or dry-erase board, various household items, craft sticks (to create bundles of 10), an analog clock, a traditional 12-month calendar, a 12” ruler, a yardstick, a tape measure, a kitchen scale, and money (play or real coins, $1 bills, and $10 bills). Number Sentence Cards are suggested.
