The Ho 229 was a German aircraft prototype designed at the end of WWII. It was one of the first jet-powered “flying wings” ever built and was designed to meet Hermann Göring’s request for a light bomber that could carry 1,000kg of bombs a distance of 1,000 km at a speed of 1,000km/h. Three Horten prototypes were built for testing, but the aircraft never saw service due to the war coming to a close. One Horten 229 prototype was captured by the Americans in 1945 and is currently on display at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.
This 1:32 scale model features working retractable wheels and comes with a minifigure. Perfect for military and aviation enthusiasts ages 8+, this set brings the Ho 229 to life in incredible detail! Dimensions are 9.2” long, 20.6” wide, and 3.9” high. ~Alex
The Horten Ho 229 was one of the most extraordinary aircraft from World War II. Designed in the scale of 1:32, the set matches the size of other aircraft issued in the World War II Historical Collection. The flying wing has a span of 52.5cm and consists of 1,080 elements. Especially for this set we have designed new blocks that perfectly imitate the characteristic nose of the plane along with the pilot's cabin and engine air intakes. The model has access to a cockpit containing detailed prints. The cockpit also contains a figure depicting a test pilot in characteristic flight suit. The pilot has two sets of headgear: a yellow pilot cap and a cap with all-new prints! The model also has retractable landing gear. The blocks feature high-quality prints with aircraft markings and details. The bottom is made of blocks in a new light blue color and also has multiple prints with markings.
The Horten Ho 229, also known as the Gotha Go 229, was a German experimental jet-powered aircraft of World War II. Classified as the "Wunderwaffe" (German: Wonder Weapon), it was supposed to be one of the projects that would help reverse the unfavorable course of the war for Germany. With its performance, Horten attempted to meet the requirements of the Luftwaffe competition for the construction of an "America Bomber" that would be able to hit targets in the USA. This extraordinary plane is the result of the Horten brothers, Walter and Reimar, who were not engineers, but aviation enthusiasts with extremely bold ideas. They specialized in the development of flying wing aircraft. The prototype was originally designated Horten H IX. The plane was equipped with two Junkers Jumo 004B turbojet engines. The design of the plane was extremely innovative. The wings were delta-shaped and the fuselage was made of wood and composites, which reduced radar reflection. Some sources claim that the Horten Ho 229 was the first stealth aircraft in history. Research conducted after the war confirmed the reduction in radar reflection, but it was not significant enough to consider this aircraft undetectable to radar. The Ho 229 prototype was built and flown numerous times. The end of the war in 1945 interrupted work on this amazing project. The Horten Ho 229 undoubtedly influenced the development of post-war jet aircraft in Europe and America. The design of the Horten brothers is still shrouded in an aura of mystery, delights with its timelessness and modernity and ignites the imagination of lovers of history, military technology and aviation!

It looks like you can build all sorts of things with this set, including vehicles. It looks more versatile than other duplo sets and the price is a good value.
My child loves to build with duplos and wanted to add to his collection.
