Wavelength Game
On a scale from delirious fantasy to logical possibility, where would uncovering a secret treasure be? Surely not as fantastical as shaking hands with an alien, but not nearly as possible as landing your next job. From falsehood to accurate, how true is the statement: “there's exactly one perfect soulmate for everybody?" Just how pointy is a nose, anyway? These are the sorts of questions you'll be pondering in Wavelength. Each turn, players trade off being a “psychic" for their team. The psychic spins the target wheel which only they can see, and the target will appear randomly on the screen. Taking stock of where the target is from left to right, they then cover the screen so the target is invisible and read a scale card. A card might read: “Guilty pleasure < -- > Openly love". The psychic then turns the covered screen towards the other players and gives an original clue based off of these opposites such as “Gilmore Girls" to point their team towards where the target is. No numbers, percentages, ratios, or synonyms allowed! The team handling the clue then discusses where between these two opposing concepts the psychic considers Gilmore Girls to be. Sounds easy enough, but when your psychic must remain completely silent and your team endures lots of heckling from the other side, you'll be questioning how well you can really read your psychic's intentions! When your team reaches an agreement, they turn a dial to the spot between where they think the target lies. The psychic then reveals the target - if your team was close, you'll score 2-4 points. The game draws to a close when one team scores 10 points. A laid-back party game with few rules, this is an easy one to break out with large groups. Theoretically, this game can be played with any number of players, but the game suggests 12 as a max. Game time is approximately 45 minutes. Game includes 1 screen/dial/target, 1 scoring track / wheel stand, 1 guessing token, 2 scoring markers, 84 double-sided “normal" scale cards, 42 double-sided advanced scale cards, and instructions for play. ~ Janine
Wavelength is a party game where two teams compete to read each other's minds. It's a thrilling experience of TALKING and THINKING and HIGH FIVING that anyone can play—but it also has some of that deep word game sorcery, where your decisions feel tense, strategic, meaningful.
Each round, one player has to guide their teammates to guess where a hidden target is located. But they can only give a clue on the spectrum between two concepts, like "Hot - Cold" or "Fantasy – Sci-Fi." And the closer to the target's center, the more their team scores!
