Concise History of the American Republic Year II Teacher Guide
The Teacher Guides include answer keys and tests. Heads-up: the tests, in general, have a fondness for details and the final test for each year require the student to list half of the U.S. Presidents in numerical order.
This full-year course is designed to give students a very good understanding of America's history between the end of Reconstruction (1877) to the Reagan years (1980s). This includes the industrialization of America, the Gilded Age, the settlement of the West, the increase in immigration, the Progressive Era, World War I and its effect on American society, the Great Depression, World War II and its effect on American society, post-war years of prosperity, the Cold War and Communist threat, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and troubles in Southeast Asia, and the beginning of problems in the Middle East. Social, economic, and political issues are addressed throughout the book.
Our Student Guide provides reading notes for each chapter, as well as comprehension questions that help students focus on the most important information from each chapter. The Teacher Guide includes three tests.
Note: This course has transitioned from a 2-year course to a 1-year course. Older edition books, titled “Year 1” and “Year 2” will be available until sold out.
This one-year course is a comprehensive political, economic, and cultural survey of American history up to 1980 featuring a Textbook, Student Guide, Teacher Manual, and Quizzes & Tests book.
The 800+ page Text is basically a reader divided into 36 chapters. The Student Guide is consumable, providing a course outline with worksheets for each chapter broken into the following categories: Introduction, Key Concepts, Comprehension Questions, Essay Questions, and Other Activities. The Quizzes & Tests help evaluate student progress and mastery for all 36 chapters. The Teacher Manual includes an introduction, overview, summary, and conclusion for each chapter with reduced student pages and answers filled in. This course can be used in either a class or homeschool setting, but students will receive the most benefit when there is opportunity for engaging discussion/conversation with a teacher or parent.
