This course has transitioned from a 2-year course to a 1-year course. This is an older edition book, and will be available until sold out. 

The Student Guides provide a course outline; dividing the 800+ page text into a two-year set of weekly reading assignments (33 each year) coupled with chapter worksheets (two pages each) that include a short set of notes (primarily people or place identification sprinkled with interesting historical tidbits) and a set of comprehension questions (short essay). Reviews and tests come every 10-11 weeks (trimesters) and consist of thirty-ish short answer questions plus an essay. The Student Guides are consumable and include the course outline and chapter worksheets. 
Year 1 covers history from pre-1615 life in North America through the colonial period, founding of our government, Civil War, and Reconstruction years (ending in 1877) including detailed coverage of all major wars in that time period.

This includes early European explorations, the colonial period, the founding of the United States, the Revolutionary War, the development of our government, and the principles upon which it is based, the expansion of our national borders, the War of 1812, the development of political parties, the Mexican War, and the Civil War, along with its causes and results. Social, economic, and political issues are addressed throughout the book.

Our Student Guide provides reading notes for each chapter, as well as comprehension questions that help students focus on the most important information from each chapter.

This one-year course is a comprehensive political, economic, and cultural survey of American history up to 1980 featuring a Textbook, Student Guide, Teacher Manual, and Quizzes & Tests book.

The 800+ page Text is basically a reader divided into 36 chapters. The Student Guide is consumable, providing a course outline with worksheets for each chapter broken into the following categories: Introduction, Key Concepts, Comprehension Questions, Essay Questions, and Other Activities. The Quizzes & Tests help evaluate student progress and mastery for all 36 chapters. The Teacher Manual includes an introduction, overview, summary, and conclusion for each chapter with reduced student pages and answers filled in. This course can be used in either a class or homeschool setting, but students will receive the most benefit when there is opportunity for engaging discussion/conversation with a teacher or parent.
