I have personally played this game and I can tell you, it's a blast. Up to eight players race to get 10 cards. To get cards, players have to guess whether the event on the card comes before or after their cards. As the game progresses, it gets steadily harder to guess, because you must guess the time from all your cards. The cards have four different categories: Inventions & Discoveries, Sports & Leisure, Arts & Entertainment, and History. The action is fast, and you'll learn a lot. Have fun! ~ Mark
Publisher's Description of Chronology - 20th Anniversary Edition
Think you know which came first - the invention of mayonnaise or decaffeinated coffee? Lincoln's Gettysburg address or John Deere's first plow? Test your knowledge with Chronology by Buffalo Games - the game of all time. In Chronology, each player builds his or her own timeline of cards. On your turn, someone will read you a historical event from a card. You decide where that event falls in your timeline. If you are right, you keep the card and your timeline grows. The first player to build a timeline of 10 cards wins!
Recommended for 2 to 8 players, ages 14+.
Contents include 429 double-sided cards with 858 events.
It's fun and informative, but not quite as much so as I anticipated.

Very good learning resource, and fun
This game requires actual history knowledge, especially of the 19th century. As the game progresses, it gets harder to place the cards on the timeline, so that creates complexity. Our group enjoyed the game a lot and we played it more than once the first night. The group wished for a version that covered more recent decades only, like since 1970.

Fun game for those who think they know something..
Our family loves to play games when we get together - all 3 generations. This game is not just for people interested n history, and even people who pride themselves on knowing the past soon discover that they may not know as much as they think they do. Chance interferes and anyone can win. We bought the game to play with our children and grandchildren after having such a good time playing it with my sister and her husband. Hope they have expanded packs of cards .

A great game for those who claim to hate games.
The object is to create a ten point timeline by putting events in chronological order. You don't have to actually know precise dates, but just have a general idea of when things occurred. We have played this with several fiends who claim they hate to play games and all have enjoyed it. It is also a fairly quick - paced game so no one really has a chance to get bored. We have learned a lot from this game.

Bought this game for Christmas 2012 Just love it! Simple in concept so it's quick to learn and easy for kids to play as well as adults I agree with Lynne H that it helps with anchoring events & dates on the historical timeline as you learn to position them in relation to each other and that kids younger than the recommended age of 14 will enjoy it I gave my first game to a friend for her birthday because she enjoyed it so much when we played together I purchased a second game this Christmas which I gave my sister today after she fell in love with it on our holiday visit! When I first ordered Chronology I was concerned about the price but now I'm back to order my THIRD one Maybe I'll order a spare this time

We are really enjoying this game! The cards contain 858 events ranging from Tutankhamen to the Battle of Hastings to the year Coke tried to reinvent its formula It's nice that players don't need to know the exact dates but they try to figure out where events fit on a timeline I hope that this will help develop our children's understanding of the broad scope of history (and perhaps cement some dates in their memory as well) The events are varied and interesting and the descriptions provide enough information to educate those who have never heard of a given event Our 9 and 11 year olds love the game as much as the adults and we often play at the lunch table It can be a fairly quick and very interesting game
