Publisher's Description of Themes in Literature Quiz and Test Key
This helpful parent's companion to Themes in Literature Quizzes/Tests with Speed/Comprehension Selections and Quizzes (sold separately) provides a copy of your teen's quiz and test book with answers and point values supplied. Answers for test essay questions give the basic facts to be included. The Speed and Comprehension Chart will enable you to evaluate your teen's reading speed and comprehension progress and adjust accordingly as explained in the Homeschool English 9 Parent Guide/Student Daily Lessons. Since the literature tests for Themes in Literature are designed to be given in conjunction with the grammar tests for Grammar and Composition III, the point values for both together equal one test grade. The number of questions and suggested point values on the literature vs. the corresponding grammar test reflect the emphasis of the Homeschool English 9 Parent Guide/Student Daily Lessons so that literature is given greater weight beginning in tenth grade after your teen builds a solid foundation in grammar. Essay questions carry a small point value on the test, allowing your teen to build confidence with summarizing skills and essay answer format. Grade 9.
These upper-level courses highlight the excellent and good of human endeavors in literature, while casting a strong light on poetry. The hefty student volumes provide needed introduction, author information, pronunciations, and vocabulary definitions. Finally, “Think It Through” questions require regular analysis of concepts and themes, and particularly in light of Biblical principles and passages. Featuring a broad representation of excellent writing, these upper-level volumes add an Abeka edition novel to each level (see website). Theme-organized middle school texts cover primarily Western Literature (short stories, poems, essays, the KJV Bible, and excerpts) from the classics and Christian authors of the 16th to 20th centuries. The grade 9 text, also theme focused, then lays a foundation for proper literature analysis and engagement in high school. World Literature overviews varied Western, Greek, and Roman writings, with the genre decidedly emphasizing poetry, excerpts, and short stories. Selections often highlight Christian themes and missionary writings. American Literature begins with a Puritan and patriotic focus, culminating in the early 21st century. The program ends with British Literature, a careful examination of poetry, religiously significant writings, and more from the Anglo Saxons to the 20th century. Answer keys provide a quick, economical way to check answers. If literature is daunting, teacher’s volumes (see website for options) provide plentiful support and assurance. These volumes include lesson objectives, author information, reviews, answers, and additional writing topic suggestions. Grades 7 and 8 can also test student's comprehension and speed regularly in the Student Quiz and Test Book and keys.

1 Question
Wait, if this is out of print/discontinued, why is it still here?
There are various reasons why out of print/discontinued titles remain on our website. In this case, I think we are hopeful that it will return in a new edition. With this publisher, this often happens. A title may be out of print/stock for even up to a year and then come back into print.
