Looking for more depth instruction and practical application of basic electronics? Check out this in-depth exploration of electronic components that incorporates the SC-750 Snap Circuits® Extreme kit (item #026796)!
Containing all the components of the SC-750 Kit, a sturdy black storage case (with handle!), a Teacher Guide and a colorfully illustrated, comprehensive Student Guide teaching the concepts of electricity/electronics covered in the kit, and includes real world applications and problem solving quizzes.
The electronics component offers 80+ colorful building blocks with snaps to build over 750 projects! The comprehensive instruction booklets provide detailed orientation to the parts in the kit and their functions, safety guidelines, a checklist and a troubleshooting guide. It also lists each project with a full color diagram of the finished setup, objective, and directions. The parts are all labeled on the diagram, making it easy to set up the project, and the directions include a quick explanation of how the circuit works. The circuit to build is shown in color and with numbers, identifying the blocks to snap together to form a circuit. Children learn about transistors, integrated circuits, and radios. Includes everything from the SC-500 Pro-Kit (item # 029507), plus additional projects covering solar cells, electromagnetism, vibration switches and 70 computer interfaced projects, turning your personal computer into an oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer!
The colorful Student Guide assists students to “Learn by doing®." Containing 14 chapters, the first 3 cover basic electricity before moving onto the practical application of electronics. Topics include basic components and circuits, motors and electricity, resistance, capacitors, transistors, oscillators and electronic sound, integrated circuits, electromagnetism & radio, diodes, electronic switches, electromagnetism, sun power, and more. The chapters are written to the student and teach in a way that is understandable to most middle school students. Aligning with the Learn by doing® philosophy, hands-on activities are integral to understanding the topics. Most activities are the same as those found in the instruction booklets, although there are a few new ones. Chapters conclude with a summary, practice test (with answers) and often a problem-solving activity. 138 pgs.
The Teacher Guide provides background information, a list of projects, reproducible quizzes for each chapter in the Student Guide, and the quiz answers. 25 pgs.
Requires 4 AA batteries . You will also need a Windows® compatible computer and microphone input port for the computer interface projects. (Software download required and available at supplier site for no additional charge.) Supplier also provides a link to a similar Mac® version that is similar in capabilities but does not match the instruction manual exactly. Practical and educational, guide your children into learning electronics basics with this invaluable training kit. ~ Deanne
