The F/A-18C Hornet is an American supersonic multirole combat aircraft popularly known for its use by the Blue Angels, the US Navy’s flight demonstration squadron. The Hornet is extremely versatile, being used for fighter escort, air defense, close air support, and reconnaissance. It also has fighter and attack capabilities, which is where the “F/A” part of its name comes from. The Hornet fought in the 1991 Gulf War and 2003 Iraq War and is still in active service today. It boasts a top speed of 1,190 miles per hour and features a 20mm 6-barrel rotary cannon as well as a powerful arsenal of missiles, bombs, and rockets.
