Description

Shut the Box is a great classic game that you can enjoy with friends and family. Very simple and easy to play, you will have to roll two dice to try to cover up as many numbers as you can. Whatever the total roll of the dice is dictates how the player can decide on what numbers they want to cover up. For instance, if someone rolls a total of 7 on their turn, they can choose to cover up just a 7 or a combination of numbers that equals 7 such as 5 and 2 or 4 and 3. Player keeps rolling until they are unable to cover up a set of numbers and then the sum of the numbers that are not covered is their score. The box then resets for the next player to take their turn. Similar to golf, the player who achieves the lowest score on their turn has won the game. 1-4 players can play, and a round will last around 15 minutes. This kit also includes instructions where you can learn different variations of how to play this game.

Publisher's Description of Shut the Box Game

Shut the Box is a game rapidly increasing in popularity. The rules of play are simple. Each box features the numbers 1-12 with wooden "keys" in front of each number. Simply roll the dice and add the numbers on each dice together. You can either close the key over the exact number that matches, or close multiple keys that add up to the number rolled.

For example, if you roll a "2" on one die and a "6" on the other, you could either close off the number "8" or the "6" and the "2". Each player continues to roll the dice and close keys until they can no longer make any moves. Their turn is then over, and any open keys count as points. The object of the game is to have the lowest score possible. The player with the least amount of points after everyone has taken a turn wins.

The high box walls make it easy to roll the dice without losing them. Each game is made from beautifully stained wood and features a green felt-lined interior. Two dice are included with every game.

Shut the Box can be played as a single-player game, or with a group of people. It's a great way to help teach kids basic math skills and is sure to provide hours of entertainment.
