Description

Azul is a colorful tile-laying game where players take on the persona of a tile laying artist decorating the Royal Palace of Evora for the King of Portugal. Taking turns acquiring tiles from those available each round, players move them to their own tile wall (player board) in order to strategically place them across five different rows comprised of each of five different available patterns. Points are scored each round for numbers of tiles placed, with additional points for all adjacent vertically and horizontally placed tiles. Points are lost for unplaced tiles. The game ends when one player places a horizontal line of five consecutive tiles on their tile wall. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins. This game is easy to learn, but also uses strategy and planning to maximize each turn. This game is intended for 2 to 4 players ages 8+ and features a 30 to 45-minute playtime.

Publisher's Description of Azul Game

Build a mosaic fit for a monarch!

Azul is a tile-placement game in which players compete for the highest score by claiming tiles and arranging them on their board to score points. Extra points are on offer for collecting sets of the same color of tile, or for creating particular patterns, while there are penalties for taking tiles that you’re unable to use. But every tile that you claim affects what your rivals can take next. You’ll have to make choices that help you without helping them too much!
