For a visual learner (65% of the population), the graphs, snippets, and illustrations in this guide serve as a useful reference on a variety of ELA points. That said, this is more of a reference guide than it is instruction. Use the table of contents to find what you are struggling with, read that section, and go back to whatever you might be working on. It is a tool for a student to use on their own. I liked how they show sentence building with horizontal puzzle pieces. When you are learning ELA, there are always take-aways you can apply to what you are constructing.
