Description

From Handwriting Without Tears. Gray block paper helps children learn correct placement (no reversals) of capital letters and numbers. The double line paper corrects the problem of 'line confusion.' The bottom line keeps the writing straight and the top line controls the size of the letters. The double lines help the child place letters correctly and facilitate the transition to single line paper. Letter placement will be uniform and neat. The package includes four styles of gray block paper with 26 sheets of each style: Starting Center, Starting Corner, Alphabet/Number and Blocks for Words. The Starting Center has a dot at the top center of each block for letters that start in the center such as 'C.' The Starting Corner has the dot at the top of each block in the left-hand corner for most letters such as 'R.' The Alphabet/Number is set up to practice each letter once and each number once. The Blocks for Words has six rows evenly spaced to form words & has no dots. Phyllis

Category Description for Handwriting Without Tears

Handwriting Without Tears uses a step-by-step process in teaching the student: demonstration, guided practice, and then independent practice. Students will learn handwriting as well as some practical composition skills. Vital to this program is the teaching of handwriting in a developmentally progressive order. Coupled with this teaching are the unique multisensory tools, the distinct letter formation techniques, and the double-line paper format.

With these methods, children learn to write in a consistent and legible manner. Lessons take 10-15 minutes daily. Each level uses a student book and a Teacher Guide. The Teacher Guide provides detailed directions and an explanation of this unique methodology, with a program overview, posture instructions, writing activity ideas, ELL strategies, and more.

Please note, the online interactive resources in the Teacher Guides are made for classroom use and are not available for homeschoolers. Currently, both the 2022 and 2025 editions of Handwriting Without Tears are available, although their components are not interchangeable.  See each category description for edition distinctives. ~ Ruth
