Description

This is the Handwriting Without Tears method, being applied to Hebrew script. This book was written for children who know the Hebrew alphabet and are ready for Hebrew script. It is appropriate for all levels of reading comprehension, and is designed for children with all different learning styles.

The book reads like traditional Hebrew, so the book will appear to work backward. The teacher section is in the back of the book and includes classroom set up, posture, paper placement, pencil skills, multi-sensory teaching strategies, and lesson strategies for the workbook pages. The student pages include letter pages, word pages, sentence, and other pages. The Hebrew alphabet is included at the front of the book. This book doesn't teach the pronunciation of the letters, just the formation of the letters.

Script Practice & Basic Vocabulary
Using with teens. Not too silly. Does the job. A few of the letters are different from what I was taught in Modern Hebrew in college.

Overall good book to learn script.
This book teaches Hebrew script which is how people write Hebrew. People don’t usually write in print they just read in print , unless they are writing something more official. It was a good introduction. It didn’t have much practice of looking at print and then transcribing in script. So we used this as an introduction.

Not what I'd hoped for
Handwriting Without Tears is great as always, and I got this book for myself (an adult!), but I was expecting to learn to write in a way that was similar to the Hebrew alphabet I've learned to read. This is Hebrew SCRIPT, and many of the script letters look quite different from printing or traditional font you might have seen elsewhere. For me this was really confusing since I was basically having to re-learn many of the letters. BUT, if Hebrew SCRIPT is what you are looking for, this looks to be a great option! :)

We're hoping to move to Israel in two years so I wanted to introduce Hebrew writing in a way that was familiar and comfortable - in English This book is completely PERFECT! We are using HWT for our other handwriting and many of the same methods are found in this book There's a teacher's guide included at the back of the book that also explains a bit about the origins of the book - Jan Olsen author of HWT was approached by some Jewish schools about creating a handwriting program and she was amazed at how well her techniques transferred to Hebrew - as am I! this book assumes some familiarity with Hebrew but not much It lacks the friendly step-by-step instruction mnemonics ("bump down around" "run the bases") for drawing the individual letter shapes but what it DOES offer is gentle practice repetition with vocabulary and sentence-building Your child will learn the language as he/she learns to write Script writing isn't essential for Bible or Torah study but to interact with modern Hebrew as a living language is essential - and this wonderful book holds the key!
