Copybook Cursive III: Scripture, Second Edtn
For students using the New American Cursive method who want practice, these 25 lessons include Scriptures from the KJV Bible, selected from the Histories, Psalms and Prophets. The verse is modeled at top, with 1/4" lines below. Includes 2 pages of upper and lowercase review. 64 pgs, pb. ~ Ruth
This additional copybook in our series includes the memory passages students memorize in the Memoria Press Christian Studies II course. It teaches penmanship, basic grammar, spelling, literature, accuracy, attention to detail, and memorizationall through the simple skill of copying. Not only do we want our students to form beautiful letters, we want them to copy beautiful words. We have selected Scripture from the King James Bible (chosen for its poetic verse). Our Copybooks are simple, clean, and focused on the task at hand. You wont nd meaningless color illustrations strewn throughout our pages. The font size in Copybook Cursive III is college-ruled for older students continuing their copywork practice.
Handwriting with a bit of a different approach will teach your child cursive skills beginning in first grade. There are fewer strokes, a natural right slant, and the strokes are simplified. The philosophy is that students have the motor skills to write cursive at the first grade level, and when we wait to teach them at about third grade, they literally go back to the speed of first grade writing as they transition from print to cursive.
Each book includes a 7-page teaching guide, followed by instruction and exercises, illustrations and practice sheets with quotes and Bible verses (a secular version of Book II uses quotes from famous Americans in lieu of Bible verses). Book II and III also include handwriting evaluations, review of paper placement and pencil position, review of letter and number formations, and progress reports and test pages. The books have an uncluttered, visual appeal with uncramped space to practice. Since the books are intended for elementary grades, the spacing is very important.
'Mr. Meerkat' guides your child through each book as he shows the way to draw each letter and encourages creativity. Before the 1940s, children were taught cursive in the first grade. This course provides the opportunity to use this simple technique to bring back the art of handwriting. - Donna
Renewing an old educational practice, copybooks provide a beginning skill that is foundational for all language arts skills. These copybooks provide an opportunity for students to practice penmanship as well as spelling, reading comprehension, punctuation, and vocabulary. Not surprisingly, they are also an aid to memorization. Written in New American Cursive, line spacing is increasingly smaller (3/8" in Book 3 and college rule size in Book 4). All Scripture is KJV.
