Handwriting guidelines are 7/16" wide with dotted middles with ten practice lines per page. Although the lines house is still here, except for the first line which is a full illustration, the house is just lines. An interesting feature of this tablet is that it can be used for either manuscript or cursive. A letter chart for each style shows the proper letter strokes. Cursive is on the inside front cover, while manuscript is on the inside back cover. The book can be used from either direction as pages are the same on either side.
Publisher's Description of Writing Tablet (Bound) - 1st Grade
Give your first grader the guides he needs to practice his handwriting consistently with this 144-page writing tablet. Whether he's learning print or cursive, the pages in this book will aid in the placement and formation of letters, numbers, and the four major punctuation marks. The cursive formation guide is shown in the front on the book; flip the book over and start from that end for the manuscript formation guide. Between the formation guides are lines showing the "upstairs," "downstairs," and "basement" to assist in accurate formation as your child practices his writing. Designed for use in penmanship class and for his independent work (called "seatwork" in the Abeka curriculum). Can be used independently or in correlation with the Homeschool Language Arts 1 Curriculum Lesson Plans. Order two or three per child for the year.
Handwriting instruction is found in the Writing with Phonics 1 workbook and is correlated with the phonics and language arts instruction. The 1st Grade Writing Tablet provides additional practice. The Language Arts 1 Homeschool Curriculum (009887) includes writing lessons that reference the cursive materials.
