This unabridged reproduction of the 1905 edition provides children with an extensive, yet engaging history of England from Roman times through the reign of Queen Victoria. There are over a hundred chapters, although each one is only several pages long. Chapters usually focus on a monarch or a specific event (usually a battle) under the reign of the monarch. Although this 654-pg to me looks intimidating at first glance, the writing is lively and descriptive with lots of dialogue.
