Description

101 Easy Signs for Nonverbal Communication American Sign Language for Kids written by Rochelle Barlow gives a simple and effective guide to introduce you and your child to ASL. The author learned ASL as a child and has taught in numerous classrooms, private schools, community centers and more. She has turned her passion and love of working with young children learning this method of communication into an online business teaching ASL. This book shows her skill in the way it is laid out. Several pages at the beginning introduce how to use the book to teach their children, find an ASL community, Deaf Community etiquette and more. The actual signs are taught per page, with detailed descriptions on how to make the sign, memory tips, and other signing tips, ASD tips, etc. There is also a sketch of a student making the sign which I find very helpful. The book indicates that this volume is geared toward nonverbal children ages 3-6. I think, however, that it would be a good resource for any age. ~Judy
