Four large 18" x 24" maps of each region on heavy cardstock (to use with Literature Approach to Geography)
Publisher's Description of Holling C. Holling Map Set (4 Maps)
These 18" x 24" maps, published exclusively by Beautiful Feet Books, are used with our award-winning Geography Through Literature Study Guide and the fantastic Holling Clancy Holling titles. This set includes maps for three regions of the United States and one map of the world. We highly recommended that each student have his/her own Map Set to complete the course requirements.
Highlighting well-written books, students go deeper into historical events and people at the Intermediate level. Short writing prompts, note booking, and higher-level questions enhance learning.
Great Quality Paper and good size. These will go well with our Geography through literature lesson and the Holling C. Holling books.

Not used
The maps were larger than i had anticipated and I have not used them in conjunction with Paddle To the Sea so it was an unnecessary purchase for me. I found other activities online that went with the book which we have used instead.

Great maps!
This has turned out to be my daughters favorite part of the study! The maps are big on a quality paper and has been a really enjoyable part or the program. They recommend pencils but the paper is thick enough to use markers. We are in the first book on the first map, but we have used the Holling book and an atlas to color them in. Very nice!

can you use dry erase markers on these?
No, they are made of a sturdy paper so dry erase wouldn’t work on them as they are. Many people take them to be laminated or put them in a cheap plexiglass frame so they can be used with dry erase markers.

Is it possible to buy individual maps instead of the set of 4?
No, on Beautiful Feet Website they sell all 4 maps as a set.

Can this be used with younger kids if the books are read aloud?
Michelle B
So far we've only done the Paddle to the Sea portion, but I think this would work fine with younger kids. You can use the guide more as suggestions that you can pick and choose from for each lesson, which cover 2-3 chapters of the book at a time. I would say you would need a lot of parental involvement to help with the maps and supplemental research topics (for Paddle to the Sea, the first two lessons have you research Canadian geese, ponds, and ballast), and also prepare ahead of time so you know exactly what you're meant to do with the maps (or to decide which parts your kids would understand and enjoy). Also consider spreading each lesson over a couple days. There is plenty for younger kids to enjoy; you might want to just have fun the first time through, and in a few years, go back to it more in-depth, with the kids working more independently. (You can buy the maps separately.) My 5th grader was able to do most of it on his own, and was really thrilled to have 'his own maps'.
