Publisher's Description of Cricket in Times Square Teacher Guide, Second Edition
The Cricket in Times Square by George Selden is a Newbery Honor-book about a tiny cricket's adventure in the Big Apple. Our Study Guide and Teacher Guide increase both the understanding of the text and develop Reading Comprehension skills.
This series of picture books address the important questions kids often have, but may be afraid to ask. With a gentle frankness, author Carolyn Nystrom provides answers that convey the basics of Christian doctrine in a way that is simple, yet not childish. Kids will identify with the characters in the books - children like themselves, exploring concepts such as creation, the fall of man and the effects of sin, salvation, obedience, repentance, forgiveness, death, resurrection and life after death. I really appreciated the soft illustrations in this series, as well as the simple paraphrasing of scripture throughout. The scripture references are listed right in the text, giving you the option of transitioning from story time into a devotional by reading the scriptures from the translation of your choice. Each of the three books is 7½" x 8" with a hardcover binding, and there are about 30 pages per book. ~ Rachel P.
