Category Description for Developing the Early Learner

So many homeschoolers have asked us what they can do with a preschool-age child that is more than just busy-work. This is it! We've used the Developing the Early Learner series with our children and could really see the difference they made in our children's mental aptitudes. A favorite feature of mine are the exercises that work on left to right tracking skills at a young age. I can see where this could prevent later confusion in reading. Exercises concentrate on four fundamental perception skill areas; visual, auditory, motor, and comprehension. Even more exciting, all of our children loved these exercises. They weren't "work" at all, but fun, and they always wanted to do more! Their favorites were the auditory exercises that required careful listening, remembering, and following directions.Yes, they worked wonderfully with my children.

coming back again and again
I first used this program for my son, he loved it and we enjoyed our time together. I could see his skill development during each session. I've just purchased this for my daughter (5,4) to use during their preschool/kindy year before we start formal reading writing. By the time we finish ill be confident of their strengths before we start formal learning.

Great variety of activities
My four-year-old daughter is loving this book. There is such a variety of activities to develop her skills in all areas. I'm a licensed teacher, yet I would have never known how to help her work on these skills myself so I'm thankful to be using them.

Great simple workbooks
My 3 1/2 year old daughter loves doing these activities. These are perfect as a child's first activity workbook. She wasn't very interested in other workbooks, so these are a win. They're very simple, black & white pages. I bought the series as part of the Bookshark Pre-K curriculum, otherwise I don't think I would have thought to get these. I can see the purpose in the activities, they are building her logic & motor skills. If my daughter loves them, I love them. I 100% would recommend to others.

3 Questions
Why did you choose this?

These books are the best tool ever! I recommend them to anyone who will listen. I am going to attempt using these with a child with developmental delays.

I used these for my oldest and I like that there are not distracting colors. The exercises are straightforward and I actually saw him improve and work through the exercises over time.

I've used this for my 4 previous kids, and I believe it's a good resource for listening skills, memory, etc.

good set, need for my 2nd kid

Do you need a teacher's guide to complete these activities?

No, not at all. I HIGHLY recommend them. It's important to go in order both in the books and on the pages was in the books. However, if the child is missing just one of the many skills that are addressed, you can do everything but those, and then come back to those, and do those in order after the child learns that skill. I see many children with learning differences who somehow never got a handle on several of the skills within and it's affected them, so again, highly recommended. Several grandchildren have used them and they found them so much fun!

are these new or used?

They’re new. In fact, these are consumable workbooks, so the only way you could sell these used is if you made photocopies of the pages instead of letting the child write in them.

I bought two sets to use with each of my two sons when they were in pre-k. The books are great and both boys really loved working in them. I highly recommend!
