Beginning
with a review of addition and subtraction, this one-year math course thoroughly
covers multiplication and division facts to 100, adding and subtracting 4-digit
numbers, multi-step word problems, perimeter and area of rectangles,
adding/subtracting fractions, geometry, elapsed time, and weight and capacity.
The text is divided into 16 units with each unit containing 6-12 lessons for a
total of 144 total lessons: 128 regular and 16 optional enrichment lessons. Units
conclude with a Wrap that may be used informally to review concepts or as an
end of Unit Test. In Grade 3, the Student Workbook is divided into 2 parts:
Part A covering Units 1-8 and Part B Units 9-16. An optional Manipulative
Kit is available with the required math manipulatives.
A placement
test is not available. Your child, however, is ready to start Third Grade
Math with Confidence if he/she can:
Count
to 1,000 by 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s
Read,
write, and compare 3-digit numbers
Understand
place-value in 3-digit numbers
Know
addition and subtraction facts to 100
Know
how to use place-value strategies to solve mental math problems like 55+37,
36+8, 90-42, or 74-6
Know
how to add and subtract two and three-digit numbers with the standard written
process (“stack method” or “borrowing and carrying.”)
For what it's worth, I am a former public school teacher with endorsements in intermediate math (grades 5-12), mid-level math for high school credit (grades 5-8), and advanced math (grades 5-12). I highly recommend Math With Confidence!
One of the things I appreciate most about this program is the well-structured lesson format. Each lesson begins with a quick review, reinforcing previous concepts before introducing new material in a meaningful way. The lessons are engaging, with hands-on activities, games, and real-world applications that help children truly understand and enjoy math. I also love that there's extra practice available for students who need it, and every day includes a review of previous skills to ensure long-term mastery.
If you're looking for a math curriculum that is both effective and enjoyable, Math With Confidence is an excellent choice!

Lots of working pieces but worth it!
This math has been a game changer in my house. The younger three kids will have a very different math journey than my older two, in a good way. I will say there are lots of bits and pieces you need to have on hand (Rainbow Resource has kits) that can be a bit bothersome at times. However, I am putting up with that because the kids that are using the program are getting a deep understanding of math and I don't have to supplement AT ALL. I am thankful Kate Snow made this program. We will start Grade 1 and Grade 4 in the Fall.

Math With Confidence Grade 3 Set
It's only the beginning of the school year, but I am optimistic-almost confident-that our math learning experience will be amazing this year. My son hates working on math so finding a curriculum that will engage him and meet him at his ability is challenging. We've used the Math Facts that Stick series successfully so I decided to give MWC a try. The lessons are straightforward where we play a math game and work together on a new concept. Then the student practices the concept on his own and finally there's a review portion reminding the student of what he has already learned. Three worksheets for each lesson and and then we're done. My son likes that. I like how elegantly the author has combined learning a new concept, mastering the concept (mastery method), and reminding the student of what he already knows (spiral method). Plus the instructor manual is comprehensive and easy to use. We are going to learn math this year in a way that my son will be able to be confident that he knows his math rather than hate it.
