Description

At this grade, you have a choice. Perhaps your student needs a solid continuance of printing skills. If so, Printing Power is for you. However, if your student needs a short review and is eager to move on to cursive, consider Cursive Kickoff. The Teacher Guide is pick-up-and-go and provides specific direction for writing assignments. The included manipulatives are recommended for multisensory activities such as the Wet-Dry-Try technique and the hand activity for lowercase letters. After this course, students will have a solid grip on printing skills and should be well-prepared for cursive handwriting. ~ Ruth

Ensuring your students’ printing skills are strong will have a positive effect on their daily learning. This level assumes that students have been introduced to and have some experience with the HWT unique methodology and now are ready to fine-tune handwriting skills. They will also transition to applying handwriting in short writing assignments. Handwriting tasks also introduce concepts such as homophones, special punctuation like apostrophes, and proper nouns such as cities and countries around the world. Products available include individual Teacher Guides, consumable student books, and program-specific manipulatives. Recommended for this level are the blackboard with double lines and the Ready for Writing Lowercase Poster Set. Student and teacher packages that include the basic required manipulatives are available. To provide your student with more writing opportunities, add the Student Writing Journal.
