Great Common Core math curriculum
I absolutely love Math Mammoth! I wanted a math curriculum that followed Common Core and this one is perfect. I love the video lessons that introduce the new concepts. I even got my kids their own Mathy the mascot to join them during their math.

Highly recommend
Recommend! Using this with a student who is very intelligent but not very math-minded. I've seen a marked improvement in her mental math abilities, and she is gaining confidence.

User friendly
I purchased this when I suddenly found myself homeschooling due to Covid19. I was looking for something that I didn't have to "teach" or buy a teachers book, and this has the instructions right in the workbook. If my son doesn't understand the instructions, there are also available instructional videos online. There are also websites listed at the beginning of each chapter for additional resources. My son says that he likes this curriculum because he gets to focus on new concepts until he understands them. I like it because I think it is more challenging than what he was getting. We have gone back and reviewed some of the things he had already learned and he understands them much better now. His teacher at school says that he will be very prepared for 6th grade, and even ahead.

Promptly returned
Had high hopes for MM. We came from 1 full year of grade 4 Saxon, where my son hated the fact that he could not write in the Saxon book. With MM, students CAN write in the text--yay! Sadly though, i did not research this curriculum--enough. Lesson 1 reviewed pemdas, which was challenging for my 5th grader, but we trudged along. Lesson 2 was a review of addition/subtraction--whew--relief, I thought. Au contraire. A "simple" review of addition-- using the MM way--brought my son to tears and his mom to utter frustration. (Did you know that there are three definitions for the word sum? The sum, the sum calculated and the sum written. Is this even necessary in the elementary years?) At that point, I was ready to throw this book across the room. I have never had such a strong reaction to a curriculum and we've been at this for 13+ years now. I am willing and quite able to tweak anything to fit our learning styles/habits, sticking it out to the bitter end, if need be, to get my money's worth, but not so with MM. We have now moved on to R&S math grade 5. My son is back to-- not being able to write in the textbook-- again, but he is so very glad to-- not be doing MM anymore. R&S is not perfect, but it IS straight forward and it gets the job done (since R&S is so economical, one could use the money "saved" from that purchase--to purchase and follow up with LOF over the summer for conceptualizing) Speaking of...there IS a place for (over?)-conceptualizing math THE WAY MM does it, but maybe in the later years? grade 7 or so? I would recommend MM for those who absolutely love math and can't get enough of it; those who love learning about the nuances and/or finer points of HOW and WHY to do math.

It's a great program! I do wish the explanations were a bit longer and in depth, but overall it has been a good program for my son!

A WINNER!!!
We have 7 kids and MathMammoth has worked with all of them who have used it so far! With the last little guy coming up, there is no doubt that he will be using it as well. Our first child did another math program and scored terribly on state tests. I knew something had to change! (Poor first kids! LOL!) We switched to MathMammoth and all the kids using it have tested several grades above since! The program is not too teacher-intensive for a momma needing to help multiple kids and they are all learning so much! This homeschool momma is *very* happy we found MathMammoth!!! Oh, and we found it through a friend who worked for NASA and told me it was an excellent program! She KNEW what she was talking about! :D

Why did you choose this?
It was recommended by another homeschool parent
i needed mastery based complete program, not spiral based
I wanted to make sure that I had all of the materials needed for Grade 5 in advance, and found the best price with Rainbow Resource. This saves us a lot of money!
Mammoth Math is better for our family because it is not as rigid as Saxon math but still requires students to do book work and repetition.
