NO - the international edition (which we do not sell) is identified on the cover as such.
no they are not. And because this is a text and workbook in one, you often do some work and then turn the page and the back of that page is the next lesson. So I wouldn't want to tear pages out as I'd lose it and then be missing a lesson or instructions. instead I purchase the spiral bound, so that it lays flat and we see only one page at a time, but nothing gets lost. I have also purchased the digital version so that I could print out individual pages and that worked very well, too, when I was catching a student up and only needed parts of the book. then I was able to 3 hole punch the sheets I printed and put them in a binder, or use a stapler to create mini booklets.
Within the context of the problem solving, the children need to use critical thinking but that’s not directly taught. The problem solving problems are very good though and are in most lessons.
You don't really NEED anything additional, but if you have a hands-on learner, manipulatives of some sort are helpful.
I teach in the public schools and use Mammoth math with my daughters at home when my husband homeschools, and from what I have seen, it is aligned, but it adds a few other grade appropriate topics that may not be covered in the Common Core curriculum (notably money and time in level 1)
Yes it is. I've been using the program for years now in California. I homeschool through a charter and have a credentialed teacher who collects all the info for the state. It is her favorite math program and she wishes our county would adopt it.
According to the FAQ on the Math Mammoth website-
Is Math Mammoth aligned with any state standards?
Grades 1-7 meet and exceed the Common Core Standards.
(I can attest that it covers core standards in an understandable common sense way and goes beyond to give a wonderful foundation for student learners. I've even learned a thing of two by teaching it!)
was required for program I enrolled child in
I needed a fully laid out curriculum that covers all the basics.
Affordable, efficient, and well-reviewed.
This curriculum says it teaches the "why" behind math, not just the "how." It also comes with a lot of great, free resources.
