Great for my 1st grader
Mammoth fits perfectly for my son's learning style. He must learn topics in detail instead of jumping around throughout the curriculum and Mammoth provides just that. So far it's been a hit. He might actually enjoy math more now.

Great program that makes concepts clear and easy to grasp. My daughter was struggling in a different curriculum and I am happy we made the switch. She is much happier and doesn’t fight me when it’s time for math. I will be switching my older son from a Singapore Dimensions to MM in the fall.

Making Math Simplified
This is our first year using Math Mammoth, and all three of my kids are using, level 1, 5, & 6. I love the ease of use and the examples before each lesson.. makes math a little more enjoyable..for all of us! I will definitely continue to use next year. ??

Great Math Program
My older child has been using Saxon her whole homeschool life, but when I saw that this was the wrong approach for my youngest I started searching. So glad I found this program! It's Mastery approach is just the right balance between repetition without making her hate math! The books are well organized and easy to use either straight through or jumping around in order to combine lessons about different topics.

Good resource
So far, this has been a great resource with lots of visual aides. I find some of the mental math problems out of place. The kids are still learning basic addition facts yet there is a section for many assignments where the kids find the missing addenda rather than the sum. This is way too hard for an early learner. Otherwise, we like the series so far.

Simple yet thorough
I love the simple and repetitive nature of this series. The concepts seem to continue for mastery. My daughter especially enjoys the associated computer games recommended by the book for math play.

Why did you choose this?

found out about you from Logos Classical school in moscow idaho

Recommended by Logos Press

As a former teacher, I like the mastery approach and a fellow homeschooling mom recommended it!

Wanted to try this after friend recommendation

Does the way this is bound allow it to lie reasonably flat? I'm concerned about how easy/difficult it will be to write in.

We haven't had an issue with it. I actually prefer this type of binding to the spiral ones of some of my other curriculum, because while those do lay flat, they tend to come apart by the end of the school year with so much use. So I like the "real" book binding, personally.

which one will you choose Go math or math mammoth? can you tell me the difference between the two?

I purchased the Math Mammoth series for my granddaughters. I am a certified Eleemntary and Special Education teacher. I left public school and now help with homeschool. The series is excellent in my opinion. The visuals and directions are easy for the student to understand. It is rigorous and complete.

How are the books bound?

They have a standard paperback binding.

Do I need to purchase manipulatives or anything else if I purchase the Grade 1 Set? Does it come with manipulatives?

All you need is the books. They don't come with manipulatives, but the books are easy enough to do without manipulatives. I have colored counting bears that I use often with the books, which you can buy separately if you need to or want. You could get the books and see what you think. I have the whole set of these books and have found them easy to use, just pick up and go...meaning no prep work ahead of time. I have used them with my children aged 7 through 16. They really do a good job teaching math concepts in a step by step process, so you can teach it to the student, and the student can learn the material on lesson at a time.

do I still have access to the online resources if I buy the actual books?

There are videos on the math mammoth website that corresponds to chapters in the books. Not every day has a lesson...but when new ideas are presented, there are often corresponding videos. There are also web addresses listed in the book that correspond to lessons.
