Math In Focus Middle School Courses (Gr. 6-8)

Description

Middle School Courses 1-3, corresponding to grades 6-8, have been added to this program.These use the same conceptually rich approach and format as the elementary series but focus on ratio, geometry, number, statistics, and expressions.Course 1 covers positive and negative numbers, multiplying and dividing fractions and decimals, ratios and rates, percents, algebraic expressions, equations and inequalities, coordinate plane, perimeter, area, volume, statistics, and measures of central tendency.Course 2 chapters include: The Real Number System, Rational Number Operations, Algebraic Expressions, Algebraic Equations and Inequalities, Direct and Inverse Proportion, Angle Properties and Straight Lines, Geometric Construction, Volume and Surface Area of Solids, Statistics, and Probability.Course 3 completes preparation for high school math by exploring exponents, scientific notation, algebraic linear equations, lines and linear equations, systems of linear equations, functions, the Pythagorean Theorem, geometric transformations, congruence and similiarity, statistics, and probability. Each homeschool kit includes the hardcover teacher edition and hardcover student edition (nonconsumable text) for one semester.The assessment book is sold separately and includes content for both semesters.Optional resources available include Extra Practice books for each semester and a Blackline Activities book.
