Mastery of basic grammar facts. Independent student work. Lots of review and practice. That's what Easy Grammar provides. It's convenient and takes no teacher prep time. The general idea is to introduce grammar gently to young students (Easy Grammar Daily Guided Teaching, grades 1-2). The middle school years (grades 3-7) focus on systematic instruction and provide lots of practice to master the basics as well as daily review. The secondary years (Easy Grammar Ultimate, grades 8-12) continue daily review, coupled with some advanced instruction. The courses vary in structure at different grade levels. Grades 3-6 are similar in structure but grade-level appropriate. Easy Grammar Plus is a course that can be used either in 7th grade or as a complete grammar review for older students. Daily Grams, available for grades 3-7, supplements and complements the EG series by providing daily review.
Each grade level Teacher Edition provides bite-size lessons, student practice and assessment pages, and those same pages with answers filled in. Both the practice pages and the tests are reproducible for families. Student Workbooks include lesson and practice pages. Test Books (available for Grades 3 and up) provide pre and post tests as well as sectional tests. Grade level Sets include the Teacher Edition, Student Book and Test Book (if available for that level).
This is exactly what we needed. In our homeschool we don't spend a ton of time on grammar. We want our children to know the basic parts of speech and how to put sentences together properly but we don't necessarily feel like diagramming is essential. Easy Grammar provides us with a solid grammar understanding without delving to deep to the point that our children lose interest. I see us using this for awhile!

Solid Grammar Curriculum
This is a solid grammar curriculum. My son began this curriculum at the beginning of his 3rd grade year with little formal grammar instruction previously. He is now comfortable with parts of speech, finding prepositional phrases, identifying the subject of a sentence, using the correct past tense vs. past participle of a verb, etc.
The format is clear and not cluttered. It makes it easy for my son to focus on his work and get it done in a timely manner. The lessons can be a bit repetitive but they are quick enough that my son (aka Mr. Whiney Pants) has never whined about completing the lessons. There's enough painless repetition for my son to learn the material well without extra work on my part to find more practice material.

We used Easy Grammar for grade 2. I really love the simple format. And my child does well with it. Grammar was always one of my favorite subjects, and I enjoy how they cover it and using this program…

Thought it would work well for my gifted 2nd grader.

It was recommended by a trusted homeschool friend. The video explanation of the incremental, stair step approach to grammar also helped in my decision.

How do I use Easy Grammar? Do I give my child 1 page to do per day?
That is how we did it, I assigned 1 page per day.

If I go with easy grammar, do I still need to purchase a phonics curriculum?
Easy Grammar is simply that. It is Grammar drills and daily instruction. Any reading skills that need to be built need to be done elsewhere. Easy Grammar 3 worked very well for my daughter. Call Rainbow Resources and chat with their experts. They are brilliant and patient. They will help fill in the gaps for you.

Is the student workbook necessary?
Keegan G
The teacher’s book has blank pages that the student could do, but on the next page are the answers, so it might be worth buying g the student workbook to have pages without the answers. I buy the teacher workbook for the answers and the student book for the student to work in. The daily grams are also excellent practice that we add to the lesson.
