Description

Set includes 2 print items: the Teaching Guide/Answer Key and the Student Text/Workbook. ~Sara

The large (450+ pages!) spiral Student Text and Workbook includes an introduction to the course, password to the course website, and the student lessons. Most lessons begin with a hands-on activity which ranges from practical activities like comparing prices, to hands-on activities to illustrated concepts and games for skills practice. Vocabulary and important concepts to know are identified with an icon giving students a visual alert to pay close attention to the information. Along with these unique traits, students also have lessons to read, practice pages to complete, chapter reviews, and end of unit projects. Each student will need their own copy of the consumable Student Textbook.

Softcover Teaching Guide and Answer Key includes a suggested teaching schedule (4 Days per Week), an overview of the course, (optional) chapter tests, teacher notes for each unit, answers to the Activity Sheets and Tests, and project/activity templates.

Publisher's Description of Exploring Creation with Mathematics Level 6 Set

Exploring Creation with Mathematics, Level 6, expands upon students’ mathematical foundation in a way that is age appropriate, easy to read, and God-honoring.

Right from the start, Exploring Creation with Mathematics, Level 6 lets students know they are going to study math as a tool to help them know God better and understand their unique place in the universe. Every unit begins with a devotional called Seeing Our Creator that connects the upcoming mathematical concepts to our Creator. Just some of the mathematical concepts covered in this book include fractions and ratios, rates and probability, and negative numbers. Students will also receive an introduction to algebra to prepare them for higher-level math courses.

In this course, you’ll find the following:

  • A suggested daily schedule with thoughtful, systematic pacing through concepts

  • Just the right amount of skills practice to learn a new topic without feeling burdened

  • Instructions and activity sheets for easy-to-set-up games, activities, and projects that make learning fun and ensure students understand the concepts taught

  • Colorful, age-appropriate lesson layouts and page design that make learning more inviting

  • Options and suggestions for customizing lessons to meet students’ needs

  • Supply lists, teaching tips, answers to the problems, and suggestions for taking activities further

Each activity in Exploring Creation with Mathematics, Level 6 will help your child understand the age-old question “Why do I need to know this?” From the very first page of Exploring Creation with Mathematics, Level 6, students will understand they are learning mathematics as a means of knowing our Creator. By the end of the book, students will be able to make direct connections between our Creator and everyday life through the mathematical skills they have mastered.

This course is designed to be done 4 days a week for 28 weeks, and each lesson takes 30 to 45 minutes to complete. A suggested daily schedule is included with this course so students can easily understand what is expected of them each day.

To fully use this course, some common household and math manipulative items will be needed. A complete list of items is included in the Teaching Guide & Answer Key.

Category Description for Exploring Creation With Mathematics

Offering a systematic presentation of skills, Apologia's new math program provides a creation based, hands-on approach to math education. Through the lessons, children are pointed to the Creator and shown the connections between math and science. Each lesson is presented in a 4-step progression: Project and/or problem, pictorial presentation, abstract presentation, and application. Levels are theme based following the same topical themes found in the Apologia Young Explorer's series. While the programs are independent of one another, 1st graders studying astronomy may enjoy the space icons and occasional space-themed activities in the first level of Exploring Creation with Math. Lessons are highly interactive and will take 30-45 minutes to complete.

Lessons are formatted similarly: Introduce the concept with a hands-on activity and apply the new concept through a practice worksheet. Lessons often end with an additional challenge that may be a game or other project. Daily lessons are interactive and will take 30-45 minutes per day, including 5-10 minutes of review. Most activities use household or easily found items, although a few math manipulatives are necessary. For your convenience, Activity Packages and Add-On Packages are available. Activity Packages include supplies to complete most activities. Users will still need to supply a few household items. We also offer Add-On Activity Kits for families who purchased the previous level kit and only need supplies for the next level. Currently, grade levels 1 - 5 are available, with grade 6 in the works.

Required for the program are the soft cover teaching guide & answer key, and the spiral bound all-in-one student text and workbook. The Teaching Guide and Answer Key include a suggested daily schedule (4 days per week), lesson overviews and teaching suggestions for struggling students, ideas for further exploration, tear out activity pages that will be used throughout the year (you may wish to laminate for durability), project and manipulative supply list, and reduced student pages with answers to all problems. The hefty All-in-One Student Text and Workbook provides the lessons, activities, and consumable worksheets. It also includes a weblink and password to Book Extras, offering a variety of helpful links and additional practice sheets if needed. Optional Tests Begin in Level 5. Student mastery is evaluated through the projects. If teaching more than one child, each will need their own copy. Core components are available separately or as a set.

This exciting new curriculum offers homeschool families an engaging, hands-on program that focuses on mastery of math concepts. Parents will be pleasantly surprised at how manageable the interactive lessons are to teach, and children are sure to be won over by the projects and the application of math to the world around them. ~ Deanne

Hands-on activities, manipulatives, and consistent math practice come together in this course to equip students to master math skills including multiples and factors, long division, prime numbers and prime factorization, decimals, fractions, percents, integers, and one-step equations. Along with mastery of these important skills, students also learn measurement, data, and probability, and are introduced to Algebra and Geometry. Each unit offers a skills practice, hands-on activity, and practice pages for a multisensory approach which is unusual at the higher grade levels. Required math manipulatives include fraction tiles, 3D Shapes, and a protractor. Household items are also necessary, and a four-operation calculator is suggested. An optional manipulative kit is available for your convenience.
